Introduction plan

As of very recently I have decided to create a intro before the song starts to not only set the scene but to also have some where to add the title sequence.

The first shot will be an establishing shot of the college, then Liam will be walking into college and this wil be shown with a tracking shot and then a match on action to see him entering the building. A long shot will be used to show him walking through the main section of the college and entering a corridor. Next will be another tracking shot of Liam as he walks to a room, in which he will open the door and enter which will be shown using a match on action shot. There will be a long shot of the band already set up in their places as if they were getting ready to preform. There will be a long shot from the side to see Liam walk over to his band members, a medium close up will follow as we see Liam pick up the microphone from the floor. Another long shot will be used for the final shot which will show Liam saying "2,3,4" to initiate the band to start playing.

During the very beginning of this intro the titles I have created n Livetype will be used which will say in this order:
Reckless Records presents:
                                            Tougher Than Kittens
                                      All Signs Point To Lauderdale

Title test (livetype)

I wanted to apply a title to the beginning of our music video so I have made a test version and stuck it on to the beginning of the rough cut. In the final version I plan to create an intro mainly so I can apply the text so it is not over the performance.

Jeremy Kyle Title Live Type

I decided to look at titles so I can have the possibility to use professional titles in the final product, for this I used live type. I was just experimenting and Jacob (my partner in crime) said it looked quite a lot like the jeremy kyle text so I changed the text from "Hello everyone" to "The Jeremy Kyle Show" this was not enough however and we decided to put on the blue background and the border; which I did in photoshop. To add the finishing touches I put it in to final cut and added a part of the Jeremy Kyle music. The effects however are not like in the show but we thought looked good and fitted appropriately.

Evidence of editing

As you can see from the picture above I used Final cut Express HD to edit my video at college, when I was at home I used Cyberlink Power Director 12 to edit as I do not have a mac at home but I still have decent editing software for my laptop.

The red bar going across the top of the timeline shows that the video is unrendered which was a big problem as it was very time consuming to render every clip when I put it on to the timeline as it could take many minutes each time.

Digipak template

I used this template so I could make sure that my measurements for each panel of the digipak was the right size and it allowed me to overlay my digipak on top of the template.

Magazine advert mock

This is a test of the advert, as you can see on the right it says "picture of Holly" this is because the other images are from the test photo shoot and Holly (our other guitarist) was not available to take part in this but as it was only a test it was not a big deal. All the images of the band members will not be used in the final copy of the advert but I wanted to make a mock version just so I know what I am doing in the final product just with a couple of tweaks here and there. Originally there was a picture of 'hell' in the background with a dragon in the middle but we felt as if that was to much going on screen at once and decided we would go for a more simpler background in flames which still is associated with the title of the album "apocalypse". Tougher than Kittens is the name of the bacd so we thought that it should play a big role in the advert and it has taken the centre of the screen with its iconic lion logo. The name of the album is at the top of the advert so it is the first thing you see and then next the band members and logo, finally all the information you need about the new album. I felt that this layout was the best due to at first you get the information of band such as the album title and then who the band is and then you get all the information you need to be the final pitch before getting the audience to crave the album.  The choice of text is very important here and I feel as if I have got it spot on, throughout the album fire is an important aspect and what would be more fitting than the 'flames' font, the colours are matched up with the colour of the lion and the colour of the fire in the background.

Reckless Records

Record label (Reckless Records) update

This is very similar to the previous version except with one little tweak. This little tweak I believe is a big difference to the record label and for the best. The one on the left was the original and the one on the right is the newest version, as you can see they are very similar except on the right the text appears to go through the hole in the glass but it is still visible due to the transparent ways that glass has. Although it is not a big change I feel as that this version is better as it seems to be more professional and  a more finished, touched up version of the record label.

Choice of editing software

I have chosen to incorporate the aid of photoshop to help me create my digipak and and advert as over the past two years I have became very familiar with photoshop and not only do I believe I am quite good at using it, I also have a lot of fun using it. The wide range of tools and filters makes it the perfect companion to use when editing pictures. I also have photoshop at home and on all the computers at college so I have a lot of time to be able to perfect my skills to help me create the best advert and digipak that I can. All the images shown below were created in photoshop.

Test photo shoot

We decided we would take some test shots with the camera so we could get used to the camera and trying out different angles. It also gave us a chance to get our actors to strike different poses so we could look at which ones we felt were the best. The images to the left are the poses we feel as if will be the best in the final shoot. In these test shots we did not have any relevant clothes on so we will have different costumes in the final product. In this shoot we played around with lighting to see what the camera could take accurate pictures and in which lighting it could not. It held up pretty well in all lighting (The top picture showing the drummer was actually taken without any lights on.)
