Music Video Trends

In order to be able to keep the video following the genre conventions of our particular genre, research was done to find specific trends which are featured throughout music videos in our genre. It is important to keep our video similar to others because if it did not feature similarities then it would not necessarily be a part of the category of pop punk.

Live Performances

One of the main features in videos within our genre is camera shots of the actual band performing the song, whether that be an actual live performance from a gig or just for the purpose of the music video. Normally in these videos the video is edited to the beat of the music, which we have to decided to include in our video with the shot changing to individual band members during the counting stage towards the start of our music video. Here are music videos which feature live performances throughout.

Narrative

Another trend in our genre is a specific narrative throughout the music video however serious it may or may not be most videos still follow a particular storyline much like the one we are trying to recreate. Other examples of music videos which feature a narrative will be given below. It is important in our video we follow the narrative as the lyrics tell a story of a protagonist and we need to show this in our music video, however there are also music videos from other genres which don't follow the narrative at all of the lyrics these will also be given as examples of music videos which we will not be following.
